JOB DESCRIPTION
One full-time postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Hee Jung Chung's laboratory at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The main research goal of Dr. Chung’s laboratory is to understand the role of axonal KCNQ potassium channels in neuronal plasticity and in the pathogenic mechanisms underlying epilepsy (http://mcb.illinois.edu/faculty/profile/chunghj). The successful candidate will use interdisciplinary approach (electrophysiology, 2-photon microscopy, molecular and cellular experiments) to execute the research projects, which are funded by Dr. Chung’s RO1 grant from the National Institute of Health. Position is open for two years with the potential of further extension. Salary will be commensurate with experience and is in addition to a generous fringe benefit package.

The ideal applicant must have demonstrated his/her expertise in whole-cell patch clamp recording in hippocampus or other brain region with relevant publications. Experience with optical methods (such as time-lapse imaging to measure changes in voltage or calcium concentration using inorganic probes) is highly desirable but not required.
HOW TO APPLY
The interested applicants should submit (1) a Curriculum Vitae (including publication), (2) a brief description of prior research accomplishments and current research interests, (3) contact information for three references (including the Ph.D. mentor) as a single PDF file to Dr. Hee Jung Chung via e-mail (chunghj@life.illinois.edu).
